Job Description

Reports to                    Public Works Maintenance Supervisor

Job Summary

Assist in the operation and maintenance/repair of Oakdale Park, city properties, and other duties as required.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Performs a variety of routine unskilled manual labor and maintenance work required to maintain the general appearance of the park
  • Performs custodial work, lawn work, and maintenance 
  • Wash city vehicles or machinery 
  • Provide support for special events, festivals, parades, etc.
  • Reports damage or maintenance needs to the maintenance supervisor 
  • Attend safety meetings 
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Support operators and other departments as needed 
  • Responds to emergency calls during work and may be subject to call-outs during non-working  hours


Minimum Requirements

  • Valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s License 
  • Ability to operate mowers, trimmers, and various other lawn equipment



Abilities Required

Ability to see; communicate in the English language; carry items weighing up to 100 pounds and lift to a height of 3-5 feet; walk, stand and kneel for extended periods of time; push and pull up to 200 pounds; perform heavy manual labor in conditions of extreme heat and cold, and in the presence of extreme noise, dust, filth and possible mechanical or chemical hazards; operate equipment including mowers, trimmers, edger’s and other construction equipment; drive in a safe and responsible manner; follow oral and written instructions; develop and maintain a positive working relationship with fellow employees and the general public.
