Originally opened for business in 1925 as a motor court with a large spring-fed swimming pool and dancing casino and recently listed in the National Registry of Historic Places, Oakdale Park has quite a history of catering to travelers in search of rest and recreation. Now operated by the City of Glen Rose, for your enjoyment we offer a couple of dozen cabins and bunkhouses, 120 RV sites with full hook-ups, and a dozen tent sites. For our patron’s convenience we offer a propane filling station, a convenience store, and a coin laundry.
Oakdale Park is just a short drive from Fort Worth. In and around Glen Rose, there are lots of events and attractions—Fossil Rim, Dinosaur Valley, and the Promise, to name a few. Make plans to pay us a visit and spend some time with family and friends enjoying the sites and sounds of rural Somervell County. In the park we have several facilities suitable for meetings, banquets, weddings, festivals, RV rallies, and family reunions. We’ve been home to a Spring and Fall Bluegrass Jamboree since 1972, to the Lone Star State Dulcimer Festival since 1982 and to various family reunions for decades. Come and start your own Oakdale Park tradition!
Although it’s been remodeled along the way, our original 1925 swimming pool, the Plunge, is still going strong. It’s one of the largest swimming pools in Texas. So, if you visit during the summer, come prepared to take a dip. In 2017, we added a new playground that has been very popular with our younger guests. And, if the pool and the playground are not enough to keep them entertained, the Paluxy River, Big Rocks Park, a miniature golf course and a snow cone shack are all just across the street from our campground. For our more mature guests, your shopping and dining wants and needs can be satisfied a few blocks to the west, just around a bend in Barnard Street, in Downtown Glen Rose with its historic Courthouse Square, shops, and restaurants.
In the evening, head across the street and enjoy a leisurely stroll down the City’s picturesque Paluxy River Walk. We’re hoping you will make plans to add to the treasure trove of memories surrounding Oakdale’s almost 100 years of recreational history. Between area events and attractions, nearby Squaw Creek Golf Course, river access, and our own swimming pool and new playground, Oakdale Park is full of fun and activities for all ages. Y’all come!
Great place. Staff is very friendly. The park there was great for our kids. Big Rock park was across the street. We didn't get to check out the mini golf across the street or the water park at Oakdale because it was winter when we stayed. We were there for 2 months for work. The wifi was decent. We never used the bathrooms but I seen the staff cleaning them daily. My only complaint would be the "cabin" my mom stayed in when she came to visit. Way over priced and very outdated. I was sad that I had asked my mom to stay there instead of a hotel room. The lady at the front desk wouldn't move my mom any closer to our camp site either even though at check in I asked repeatedly. It wasn't because the closer ones were occupied either because they weren't. I dont think she comprehended that we were already guests in an rv site there. She want who was usually in the office so I dont really know what the deal was with that.
Large sites for the longest RV! Room for tow vehicles to park on sites. Room between RV's so you're not at all crowded. Just enough trees for nice shade yet park easy to navigate. Very reasonably priced too.
Love this place. So family friendly. Only place that is still reasonable to take all your family and have a fun day without breaking the bank. Our parents went before us and we will keep the tradition going. We love it.
Came for the bluegrass festival ! Check in was smooth, spot was clean, level& utilities good! Lots of activities to do @park & close by..town close with eateries & shops. Bluegrass Jamboree was great.😍...prices are average compared to other places. Will keep coming back as things are now!
